Allegri’s Press Conference ahead of Genoa’s game.
“Tomorrow is a game to win. Delneri is an excellent coach in defense and we’ll have to be extremely patient and take to the pitch knowing that we have 100 minutes to get the win. We can’t be too frenetic and we’ll have to play simple football. So far we’ve
made a lot of mistakes and we haven’t been precise enough. At Malaga as well the game was positive at the back and up front we were a bit imprecise, we have to improve on that”.
“In this team, Montolivo is a geometric player and I need him about 20 meters further back. I don’t think that problems will
be solved by playing him further up the field. We get into the final third fine, but then we get imprecise. Pato hasn’t played for a long time and the two tests against Lazio and Malaga were important for him. I think he’s
calm and he could start the game tomorrow. In 8 months, he has played very little. He has to get back match fitness and mentality. He has amazing qualities and he has to get back to being the player that he was. I think he’s on the right track. I recognize the
difficult moment that we’re going through. We’re working as hard as we can every day to get back up the league table and get through the Champions League group
“The team’s performances have been comforting and we have to persevere with what we’re doing. We need to be more lucid in the final third and I’m sure we’ll get out of it. The players believe in what they’re doing on the pitch and I’m sure that we’ll get the
win tomorrow. We didn’t play badly against Malaga. They had very few chances. Against Zenit and Anderlecht, they dominated the game. I chose the back three because I wanted more a more attacking team when in possession but the formation doesn’t always change everything. I’ve always played with a low lying midfield, almost back with
the defenders. That might happen again this season, a low lying midfielder who sets things up in front of the back line. It could
be Ambrosini or De Jong. I’m disappointed most of all for the players. With more calm, we could be more dangerous up front. I’m
not a big fan of stats, but they show that the team is doing well. We only need to change track up front. But we have to keep on going and the results will come. With a 3-4-3, Emanuelson could play wide left. We’ll see about tomorrow, it depends on who starts up front. It’ll be a tough game and against a team that are hard to face. We need support
from the public and I ask for that knowing that it’s not easy asking the fans to follow us. It’s not the last chance saloon.”
“Being fired as being set free? Running away from difficulties is not part of my character. I faced tougher situations in my life. I’d be the first to leave the club if I felt that the team was not following me but that’s not the case. Satisfaction will come
when we climb the table and get through to the next round in Europe. De Jong should be
back tomorrow and he’ll play with
Ambrosini. We have limits but we’ve also been unlucky on some occasions. That’s why we have to keep on working as we’re doing
to get back to winning. Boateng has done very well so far at the club. He has to give a lot like the others and I have a lot of trust in
him. He’ll show what he’s worth on the pitch. He was in the stands against Malaga and that’s a choice that I thought was right”.
I have no complaints about my players characters, sometimes, some decisions can help to shake things up a bit. The President
has never been far from the club. I spoke with him on Wednesday before the game and he encouraged me and the team as he always does. He knows the moment we’re going through. We have to improve in certain situations but I can’t complain about our intensity and application. I have to improve more than anyone. Muntari will play with the Primavera side tomorrow. He’s an important player and we need him back in
top shape. Abbiati is getting better and he’ll be on the bench. Boateng felt a twinge yesterday but if he’s fit he’ll play”.
